There is a wide range of options in terms of price, functionality, and quality when it comes to keyboard workstations. Since I have handled and used just about every keyboard workstation available, I have compiled this best piano for Kronos list.

Keyboard workstations combine a keyboard and recording studio into a single device. It's also worth noting that although keyboard workstations often include high-quality piano sounds, they are distinct from digital pianos in that their primary function is not to provide a faithful recreation of an acoustic piano.

Best Piano For Kronos Reviews:

#1. Roland JUNO-DS 88-Key Lightweight Weighted-Action Keyboard  - Best Overall

Important Specifications

  • Brand: Roland

  • Color: Black

  • Number of Keys: 88

  • Special Feature: 88 weighted-action keys, Easy To Use, USB audio/MIDI Mode, Sample import function

  • Item Weight: 16.2 Kilograms

Product’s Highlights

Roland's many product lines of mid-range synthesizer workstations have been industry standards for decades. The DS88 is the next chapter in Roland's long love affair with sound design excellence. Over 1200 presets are at your disposal, all of which are sure to make your music sound fantastic.

The DS88 allows for even more sonic individuality because of its thirty drum kits and sixty-four performance spaces. A huge bonus for anyone who possesses or has had a Juno Di is that the whole sound library is included here. As a whole, this has a lot of interesting sounds and a wide range of options to explore.

The option to get DLC from the Roland Axial website is a significant perk for the new DS series. Although I haven't tested them all, the noises I have downloaded from the site have been excellent, and there are over a thousand.

What We Like

  • Wide variety of quality effects

  • Fantastic “Feel G” Ivory Keys

  • Slightly too-small screen

#2. The ONE Smart Piano, Weighted 88-Key Digital Piano - Best Grand Piano

Important Specifications

  • Brand: The One

  • Color: Black

  • Number of Keys: 88

  • Size: TOP1

  • Item Dimensions LxWxH: 54 x 34 x 18 inches

Product’s Highlights

Many in the piano world are curious in the ONE Smart digital piano. This interactive piano has a one-of-a-kind program built right in, making a teacher nearly unnecessary for novices to learn and master its functions.

It would be incongruous for such a high-tech piano to skimp on the most fundamental aspects of its design. Thankfully, like almost all of its rivals, the ONE has 88 weighted keys and 3-foot pedals. The digital upright piano is not designed to be moved about, but it may be the focal point of a stylishly arranged room.

You may be wondering how to use it or whether it really does anything, given how elegant it seems. Well, the ONE has an integrated metronome, and both the metronome and the piano's loudness can be adjusted through the accompanying app.

The sound quality of a digital piano should be a top priority when shopping for one. No matter what anybody else claims, I don't think a digital piano can perfectly imitate the sound of an acoustic piano. If that were the case, acoustic pianos would have been phased out long ago. However, digital pianos may really sound and play quite well, which is why they are so widespread.

What We Like

  • Look attractive

Things to Consider

  • Sound is a bit muffled and mid-range without clarity

#3. Roland JUNO-DS 61-Key Lightweight Synth-Action Keyboard - Best Lightweight

Important Specifications

  • Brand: Roland

  • Color: Black

  • Number of Keys: 61

  • Size: 61 Keys

  • Item Weight: 7.71 Kilograms

Product’s Highlights

Roland's newest series of keyboards include the JUNO DS61, a 61-key digital synthesizer. As Roland puts it, it's "versatile, intuitive, and very mobile," and I agree — with a few caveats. This instrument has been carefully designed to meet the needs of musicians in a wide variety of settings, including live performances, studio recordings, and songwriting. I'll go into great into to explain why, but more experienced players who are accustomed to the piano's touch could find it wanting.

The JUNO DS61 comes with 1200 preloaded patches that are highly modifiable, and it also allows you to upload your own patches or download additional ones. The provided sounds are from Roland's JUNO-Di collection. Thus, they are not the top-tier superNATURAL patches found on Roland's more expensive keyboards like the FA-06 and Jupiter-80.

In contrast, you won't find anything objectively superior among keyboards competing at the DS61's pricing point. Some individuals may have a preference for the sound libraries developed by Yamaha and Korg, although this is, of course, a question of personal preference. It might be helpful to try out each sound pack in your local music shop. The acoustic piano, organ, and string sounds are all excellent, but the default synth tones are too frequently dominated by enormous sawtooth and wobbling EDM noises for my liking.

What We Like

  • Powerful, versatile, ultra-portable keyboard

  • Doesn’t want to break the bank

Things to Consider

  • No cons

#4. Korg microKorg 37-Key Analog Modeling Synthesizer  - Best with Vocoders

Important Specifications

  • Color: ノーマルカラー

  • Brand: Korg

  • Item Dimensions LxWxH: 26 x 6 x 12 inches

  • Item Weight: 2.2 Kilograms

  • Body Material: Bass Wood

Product’s Highlights

The microKorg 37-key analog modeling synthesizer is the greatest midi controller currently available. Guitar-based controllers and digital synthesizers are only two examples of the various options. It's a well-known truth that human participation in the creative process of making music yields results superior to those produced by a machine. Korg synthesizers are aware of this, which is why they've included features that provide their modeler with the most flexible instrument possible for unleashing their creativity.

This Korg synthesizer's vocoder is what really sets it apart as the top midi controller on the market. Mic recordings may be imported for use in creating synthetic music. The vocoder records one-of-a-kind, live sounds, such as rhythm boxes, robotically changed phrases and other musical instruments. DJs use this function to inject their unique beats into the mix through the microphone input, breaking the nostalgic vibe of the output from the preprogrammed, standard-issue routines.

A dynamic microphone may be used instead of Korg's stock mic for recording in confined spaces without experiencing feedback from the room's reverberation. As a result, live performances benefit greatly from dynamic microphones, which eliminate extraneous noise before it enters the system and frees up more mental space for the performer to concentrate on their creativity.

#5.  Roland Juno DS-88 Synthesizer Bundle with Roland DP-10 Damper Pedal  - Best High-Quality Piano

Important Specifications

  • Color: Ivory, Mint

  • Brand: Roland

  • Item Weight: 69 Pounds

Product’s Highlights

It's good knowledge that Roland's JUNO synthesizers are among the best in the industry because to their high-quality sound, user-friendliness, and reasonable price. The JUNO-DS88 raises the bar for the venerable series by including several potent upgrades while maintaining the interface intuitive and user-friendly.

The adaptable and intuitive JUNO-DS88 puts your creativity in the driver's seat, making it simple to generate excellent music no matter where you play, thanks to its 88 weighted-action keys for a premium feel. Everyone from touring musicians to weekend warriors to studio musicians to at-home enthusiasts can find a use for the JUNO-DS88. It also performs very well in classrooms and other settings where music is taught. The lightweight and user-friendly JUNO-DS88 is packed with fantastic Roland sounds suitable for any style or genre, and its flexible battery or AC operation allows you to play anywhere.

Most professional keyboardists make a living playing pianos and organs, whether acoustic, electric or a combination of the two. The pianos in the JUNO-DS88 have been updated with better sound and responsiveness, and there are now more organs available. Patches created for the JUNO-Di are entirely compatible with the JUNO-DS88, while the instrument itself comes preloaded with over a thousand sounds.

#6. Korg Minilogue 4-Voice Polyphonic Analog Synth - Best with Presets

Important Specifications

  • Brand: Korg

  • Item Dimensions LxWxH: 24.4 x 6 x 16.6 inches

  • Item Weight: 0.01 Pounds

Product’s Highlights

The Minilogue stands out even among more expensive options because of the flexibility of its underlying design. Even when cranking the levels through the mixer, pushing the delay, or using the cross mod/sync and ring mod, the sound quality is typically quite great. It has the classic Korg sound (almost like a polyphonic MS-20 at times), but with a warmer, deeper, and more polished quality while yet maintaining that distinctive Korg edge or progressive flair.

Both the 2-pole and 4-pole modes of the filter have somewhat different resonance qualities, and the filter's ability to be adjusted by velocity or keyboard tracking adds significantly to its usefulness. The 2-pole is brighter, livelier, and more biting, while the 4-pole is smoother and darker, but the resonance on either kind is fantastic for creating kicks and hats.

We also found the envelopes satisfyingly sharp, making them ideal for powerful lead, bass, and drum sounds. The second ADSR may be used as a general envelope, with its values mapped to the filter and other parameters like the LFO rate and intensity.

What We Like

  • Well-built yet very portable and compact

  • Intuitive hands-on control panel

  • Built-in delay and arp/sequencer

Things to Consider

  • Slim keys

#7. Roland JD-XI 37-Key Interactive Analog/Digital Crossover Synthesizer  - Best Design

Important Specifications

  • Brand: Roland

  • Color: Black

  • Number of Keys: 37

  • Size: 37 Keys

  • Item Weight: 4.14 Pounds

Product’s Highlights

In this price range, the JD-Xi offers the best combination of features, flexibility, and sound quality available. It's hard to find fault with anything about it. Many have lamented Roland's absence of an analog synth for many years, but with true analog enjoying such a renaissance at the moment, the company could not ignore the opportunity any longer. The new JD-Xi is the first 'crossover' synth from Roland, combining an innovative analog synth engine with the company's lauded SuperNatural technology.

The JD-Xi is elegant in appearance because it borrows heavily from the FA series. The JD-Xi has the FA's black and red color scheme and glossy front panel, but it also has distinctive metallic red plastic on the sides.

The 15 MIDI send/receive knobs on the panel and the transparent rubber illuminated selection buttons all feel well constructed. Even though it's rather tiny, the red LCD displays and reports on a wide variety of system parameters clearly and with little eye strain.

What We Like

  • Real analog monosynth sounds great

  • Four-part onboard sequencer

  • An inspiring live and studio tool

Things to Consider

  • Digital components cannot be processed by the analog filter

#8. YAMAHA P125 88-Key Weighted Action Digital Piano - Best With Power Supply

Important Specifications

  • Brand: Yamaha

  • Color: Black

  • Number of Keys: 88

  • Size: Piano Only

  • Item Weight: 26 Pounds

Product’s Highlights

The Yamaha P125 is an 88-key weighted digital piano that packs a powerful piano sound into a space-saving package. P125 has all the bells and whistles of a full-size acoustic piano in a compact and lightweight design. It has the same responsive piano touch and powerful sound that you've come to expect from Yamaha's digital pianos, but it occupies much less space.

The P-125 digital piano has a Pure CF sound engine that mimics the sound of a Yamaha 9' CFIIIS concert grand piano and GHS weighted-hammer keys, in which the lower keys are heavier to operate than the higher ones. There are also key-off samples, a USB-to-Host port connection with MIDI, a damper resonance digital signal processor, and string resonances that imitate the sound of other strings resonating.

The stereophonic optimizer modifies the headphone's spatial distribution of sound, while Yamaha's Sound Boost enhances the instrument's EQ and loudness for better projection.

What We Like

  • Authentic piano performance

  • Free Smart pianist app

  • Sophisticated design

Things to Consider

  • Horrible built-in speakers
